Disbanded troop equipment

What happens to the equipment of disbanded troops? It does not go back to the stockpile as far as I can see. Is it not possible to return the equipment to the stockpile if there is space? Sometimes you want to change Pikemen to Swordsmen, but you have to disband the Pikemen in order to convert them to Swordsmen. The troops go back to being peasants and gets added to your population when they are disbanded. But their equipment just disappears.

This issue might not be an issue for bigger players with lots of resources that can buy cards and play with their credit cards. But it will be very useful for smaller players. At the very least smaller they can sell the released equipment for gold or re-use the released armor to change Pikemen into Swordsmen. Feedback would be very much appreciated.
