How can I know what happens to my neighbors?

The long story short. There was a village next to mine. Today I discovered that the village has disappeared. Is there any way I can learn what happened to my neighbor? I can only guess that the village was razed, but I have no clue whose army did that and at what time. A village next to me has completely died out and it seems I get no any notification or report about that. So, I wonder if I am missing something and if there are some sort of parish/county bulletin with the most important news happening in the said parish/county.

It is also possible that the player abandoned the village which will remove it from the map or perhaps it was removed automatically due to inactivity
