i would give my army long bows so i could keep my archer at a distance and sword and shield so i can send my swordsmen out in to battle to fight them before they can reach my troop and with archers support my losses will be minimal .

The purpose of a siege is to wear down the enemy over time.

Consequently, I would choose long bows to give my army an offensive strike capability and pikemen to give it "survivability". Should the enemy choose to sally forth, they would meet 8 ranks of bowmen lined up behind two lines of pikemen.

Sword and shield because they need to attack and defend at the same time.

I would give my soldiers a spade to dig through enemy moats and longbows to snipe enemy archers and soldiers from the walls while the soldiers with the spades dig through the moats and under the castle's main defenses.
