I love the answers of using the "belly dancing sheep" and leaving the gate open, if only we could use those in this game. Seriously, I use archers on the walls, pits up the walkway, and of course many, many pots of pitch. I love to watch my attackers burn!

No, I would simply persuade the ram with a nice pork dinner

I would use oil pots or really hot water, let soilders to throw heavy rocks from the gate walls against ram's roof. If there are not covers on the sides of ram archers can hit enemies from the sides of wall as well. Also gate has to be strengthen with iron and iron bars behind.

Firstly I would send out some beautiful females to distract them.
Then out of sudden, I'd combine arrows with fire to burn down the battering ram.
And as a matter of fact and physics the people around it, will burn down as well and my gates,
made of Stone, won't.

I would have archers on the wall, thow oil down so the people get burnt and the battering ram becomes slippy and difficult to use, stones and heavy objects onto th heads of the attackers. My chateau would be like the Chateau de Bonauil ( http://www.chateau-bonaguil.com/)
The killing holes here are organised so there are no blind spots, and many doors open to a flight of stairs!
