both from village and parish but you can use trading to make lots of gold or give your people X4 of 5 types food and X4 ale you can get lots of gold in 1 day because of the new paladin castle sometimes i have villages with -90 popularity from tax which gives me 14k-20k gold ( only 1 village ) and i still have +50 popularity anyway you should have your own tax high parish tax low i always put parish tax to X9 for war and if you are in war and razing villages will cost lots of gold as captain price will be above 10k for each if you have 10 villages

wait when you buy parish troops you lose gold other than the parish gold ??
