FireFly Interference

Considering the additional powers and privileges that FireFly (or simply any game developer) possesses, let's debate about whether FireFly should allow its staff and moderators to intervene or interfere with the actual game world.

Having been one of many game moderators myself in the past (other game), I have seen game moderators justify their intervention with the reasoning that "they would like to spice things up and make things more fun".

Fun adds to the life of the game. In that sense, it is prolonging and constructive. That said, if the intervention is partisan, it can drive people away.

Normal players do not have the ability to make global proclamations that transcends worlds. (We will disregard the baseless and defamatory nature of certain "proclamations" for now.)

The problem is, once power abuse starts, it is hard to know when to stop. Till the world is ruined for good.

If the game population finds that there has been interference and such interference is partisan, what avenue or recourse does the game population have to set things right?

Let me redirect this thread to what sparked it.

House 1 would appreciate you not slandering our reputation by putting out "anonymous" and most likely fake quotes about world 5. We are not interested in crushing peasants beneath our feet and you have made it seem like the H1 doctrine is to oppress the whole server. We have no policy stating that the server is with us or against us.

In the future if you would like a comment please speak with house leadership not make it up or find some random comment from someone who has no input on house policy.

I have seen these posts all the time and we actually think they are pretty cool. I have never seen one that says "A house 1 member is QUOTED as saying we have no allies and we are going to crush everyone that isnt house 1"

Using fictitious quotes is quite dangerous and unprofessional, however you look at it, especially as this game is very perception based.

As for the mods, lets do this (you guys are basically the only ones on the server anymore)

I agree that the text that announced the House 1 victory was out of line. Yes I am in House One, and yes I realize that the blurbs there are meant to be humorous, but I do not ever recall one being that nasty in tone. It usually goes no further than what witty adjective is attached to the Marshall's name.

There have long been posters in these forums that have diligently worked to create this image of H1 as lawless knuckle draggers, and you just reinforce this image by choosing to subject H1 to this "special humor". We do not speak to people as "snivelling".

The reality of how house One has gotten where it is is because House 1 has superior internal organization and particiption level. I knew this before I joined, and always respected it. I never knew of a single instance of the sort of nonsense that gets posted here by dudes who find trolling and utterly making things up out of whole cloth to be more interesting than actually playing the game. Now that I have been in H1 for a while I can confirm that House One is hard core but honorable, so thanks alot for smearing * on us undeservedly.
