Hi, i wanted to ask, if it this research is really lucrative, and if yes, after aproximately how many points it will be paid off?

It is questionably so. I can remember several old posts that discussed the pros and cons of it, including some calculations. I'll include a link below. Use search to look for other opinions!

Could we get a repost of this please? I'm kinda curious too as to how the math works out.

The post refered to was by Talock who either isn't playing in the beta or is playing under a different name. The graphs below are all his work and hopefully answer a lot of questions about how Philosophy is calculated.

And more of Talocks calculations and his final conclusion.....

"Therefore it takes about 50 purchased points to research rank 10 Philosophy and for it to pay for itself. With the same amount of money you can instead not research philosphy and purchase 40 points."

Thanks to Talock!, and Merepatra for posting the tables and chart here.

We can see that the costs for research points increase (not lineary but) exponentially. In everyday language: heavily.

Given, you have other gold expenses (bribes, new village, Decoratives, troops, maybe banquet buildings), you may run short of cash.
Talock wrote: Therefore it takes about 50 purchased points to research rank 10 Philosophy and for it to pay for itself. "
Who says one needs to buy the 10 points for Philosphy? It's a matter of balance in progress. Perhaps I am steadily placing new Decos and farms while deliberately waiting for the 3 promotions needed to take place. Afterwards, research points are way easier to purchase all along, as the exponential line has been greatly lowered.

Do I want to buy many points early and cause me to pay high prices later, or do I wait until Philosphy get accesible and create kinda "research points explosion"?

Am not able to go deeper in maths here (lol). Wanted Philosphy to be viewed within a context and concept.

to make it clear, it takes 50 point bought AFTER philosophy is maxxed to pay for itself.

this makes it in my opinion quite useless for almost everyone, since my experiences are that after rank 13, the research times are that long, you quite often rank up before you spend them from ranking up.

when will it pay off?
If you can hold off buying points before maxxing philosophy, since then you do not yet have those long research times yet,
If you burn honour on player attacks a lot and as such do not rank up that fast and have spare research time
if you maxxed out mathematics as well (note, another 8 RP's to repay in phlosophy, since maths lvl 2 is a given for traders)
and if you have a premium que to use all available research time.

I think it is not worth it as it is now, since holding off on buying points till rank 13 is a huge waste of available research times, and to repay for 18 points invested (10 philosophy and 8 maths) is a whole lot of points

There are some good points and, imo, a wrong conclusion.
Found the matter very interesting and exercised what I suggested. So further comments (I play casually, without Premium):

Yes. From ranking up quickly, I did have a research points jam. Maxed Philosophy one day, Maths the next one.
If you burn honour on player attacks a lot and as such do not rank up that fast and have spare research time
Yes. If for some reason you don't rank up fast, e.g. cause you aren't hunting AIs that much but having a cushy farming job.
if you have a premium que to use all available research time.
No. Premium would help either way. Philosophy and Maths helps me using the deliberately limited in-game time more efficiently.

-Yep, alot of points and 2 days of determined waiting (research time still bearable).
Unavoidable a temporary slowing down in visible progress. Also depends on the playing style: no Forced Marsh yet. ;)
-Nope, as I had the research jams before. But thinking of the higher honour costs of future ranks, I opted for preparing a comfortable base of very cheap points.

No. I get way more researches done now (being Page [14]) and can react more quickly on sudden challenges such as a large Snake or Plague.
Maxing Archers hit points today, hops farming tomorrow, catapults soon. :)
