selling & buying in the same market question

If I want to sell a resource and buying another resource in the same market can I do it in one trip or I have to do it twice? This seems odd that you have to return with your cart empty then go back to the same market and bring back whatever you want to buy.

two different trips. Guess your cart is full of gold for one of the trips
