How do you search for a village with id number?

Go to Settings from the top right menu bar between "My Account " and "Help"
Go to Settings
at the bottom of the form enable View Village IDs and View Capital IDs

then

Click on Map Filtering in the lower right
Click on the unnamed magnifying glass icon in the lower right
put a village ID in the "Search by Village ID" block

No, none of this is documented by Firefly because there is no rulebook or index, just the crappy glossary / wiki
It is disappointing that the FireFly programmers who think they are smart can write an explanation to the game and waste all the time they spend on useless promotional videos.
Lazy companies count on their player base to teach new players the rules.
