I don't understand why people get so worked up because a few players are obviously carding heavily and are way ahead of the pack after the first few days. The top 10 list on the leaderboard is totally meaningless in terms of the overall strategy of the game. In my opinion it's really just an ego thing for the people that try to get there.

If you want to be near the top of the leaderboard early on in a new server then you have to spend a lot of money...no doubt about it. But this game really is not about individual achievement, it's a social/strategy MMO which relies very heavily on teamwork and organization. Good organization will usually beat big spending. Having a few heavy carders with deep pockets won't propel a house to victory in the glory race so why make such a big deal about it? I've seen uber carders who can't build a decent castle, so basically most of what they are spending is wasted because you can just raze them at will.

In short, quit whining about how much people spend and just figure out how to beat them anyway....it's so much sweeter that way.

I have never spent a penny on this game, but through my time of playing, especially doing the first trading quest on all my worlds, I racked up 7 2-day Premium tokens and about 400 cards.

These have helped me a lot at the beginning of the world, I only used 2 tokens though, since I didn't want to be wasteful, and only a few cards, like resource speed increases.

And I am only a Thane.

I don't mind that some people move miles ahead, its their money they are wasting, and soon they will realise that if they didn't buy crowns, they could have bought a nice car instead.

You know, every "good" MMO has an engaging and active ingame chat. SHK doesn't. Does that tell you something?

That is part of the game.

Every game has something similar even World of Warcraft e.g. definitly if you start off new or again since a long time you miss a lot of events that take place in WoW because you are still to low level or far under equipped.

And something else, anyone of you knows something about the costs of equipment & labour to run a server?
People go and learn what intangible and tangible products mean. The return on investments etc. (theory can be applied in some extend to products as well).
Same as with beer you paid for it and drunk to much, for a couple of hours you had fun and you puke later in the toilet. To add you had a large hangover the next morning, then you will NOT return to the pub either and ask the bartender for a refund because it ended bad?
If you want certainties buy gold or diamonds!

I liked the beer analogy. :)

Unfortunately Amazon does not offer any free-to-use server instances!

I bought a premium account, and I don't mind paying for games I play.

But pay2win is an entirely different thing than just paying for the game. If a company can't figure out a way to make money without having to stomp all over the gameplay then they don't deserve a penny. And that is what pay2win did and does.

I'm sending out my troops for a wolfcamp that is really close to my city, but my troops aren't the fastest yet. Next thing I know, here comes an army speeding faster than even maxed out research, and takes the camp from me. I need to complete my quest, so that I can hope to advance myself, but the pay2win guy just stomped all over the game for me.

I go to bed, wake up and the parish flag that takes a day to come back is gone. Why? Because someone who paid to win is already a higher level than I was on another world after a month of playing, with premium the entire time.

Your beer analogy isn't even close to right. I'm not asking for a refund, and it's more like the majority of my beer was taken and replaced with water because the guy on the other side of the bar paid to do it. Instead of asking for a refund, I quit the game, notified my faction, and won't be spending the money I would have spent over the next months. I also sent a complaint to steam for even allowing such a game to be on their network(probably a waste of time, but oh well).

I have paid for premium tokens only, I have card points built up to use speed cards for faster armys you do not pay for faster armies you can use card points built up from wheel spins and your free cards that you gain. if there is 20 people close to you and 5 of them have come from other worlds they will surely have alot of cards saved up, so they will have advantage initially that advantage will go at some point.

Yeah, that's just bad mechanics at best and mostly a horrible excuse at trying to cover up the reality of pay2win.

Well Freewill, it was a reply on the post given by the player with the name Billytrapper.

For your problem I need statistical information to give a clear answer about the impact on free2play versus pay2play. Maybe the difference is not that big but big enough to be noticed by people whom like to witch-hunt.

Well I can only make one statement about your personal situation Freewill and that is that FireFly failed to meet your level of satisfaction.

The secret to getting your precious stashes and ai lairs/camps is to simply wait until all the European players log off for the night. I'm in a hot zone for those kind of players, but guess what? After about 10 GMT my area falls deathly quiet. Thus I can then attack and scout in relative peace.

Just deal with it and stop complaining. No one is gonna take pity on you when you complain and attack FF in the same post.
