It can do that quite regularly, just leave the village screen, wait for the game to update (the green circle in the top right to spin around) and then check.

If that doesn't unfreeze it, then exit and re log-in the game

You know, every "good" MMO has an engaging and active ingame chat. SHK doesn't. Does that tell you something?
