Cannot vote in a particular parish.

My House leadership has told me I cannot vote in a particular parish because the parish steward is an ally of the house. This appears to be an agreement my house has with these allies, I was not told of this until I started voting for myself in that parish, surely this is against the whole ethos of the game?

Those who have the power, make the rules.

It's just part of the in-game politics, and is widely accepted.

parish/house/faction rules are as diverse as the players who play SHK's

All different based on how the leaders (usually the one with the biggest guns) deem to be. That is the politics of SHK's

Try to find and associate with players that support your game style of play.

When you find that, be active and stay in the communications loop with your faction/house to know what rules are in place

If you want to rule a parish/county/province etc. Let your leaders know that is your desire. But be sure to back up that decision with game activity ;)

Barter/bargin with them. Tell them that they owe you to keep your vote to their liking.

Do it nicely and you can come out ahead.

If you follow this advise you could end up being razed. If someone in a weaker positive tries to bargain with me in my parishes I usually just 'get rid of the problem'. This is what most strong players will do. In order to get parishes you need to work with your house, active players usually get plenty of help from the big factions to get and keep their stewart positions.

Well then, sounds like you enjoy being a bully. Hopefully if the individual does get razed he will quit and you and your strong (bully) friends can keep playing a dying world.

If you would take a bit of your own advice and work with the player that you are ordering around on how to vote, whom to attack or not attack, you might get a very loyal vassal/faction member.

But please do keep razing those new players. Those that actually hang around instead of just quiting make good vassal/faction members for those of us who are willing to take the time to talk and work with them in this game.

I've built a faction up to one of the top 10 factions mate...don't presume I don't know what I am doing or how to make friends. I play to win and have fun, if people don't understand politics they won't last long in this game. Giving bad advise is a good way to have new players quit when they vote against their ruling house and get reset in an instant.

Never said you didn't.

But even here you come off as one of the 'I have been playing this game longer than you, so I know everything there is to know about how to play it' attitude.

Note: I said you sound like a bully.
Note: I said you could try working with and explaining to the new player.
Note: Again you make reference that if a new player doesn't do what you want you would raze them.

Take a breather and reread what some one has posted and then also when it is a new player asking for advice, keep in mind that you were once a new player and how it would sound to you.

I got nothing against faction/house rules. That is part of the game play and teamwork, but how you tell those rules and get others to follow them determines whether you are tyrant or popular leader.

ok noobs, listen up! if you join a house or factoin, you need to stick up for them, you are entitled to serve your factoin of house, and never quit! you are loyal but do make your own choices, but you should NOT take somthing from another member, or allie, that is treason, and how would you feel if you trusted someone and they took your parish? if you are the type of person that does this, you should not serve any factoin, house, allie, or anyone. And you know why? becuase as i said its like treason! so serve your factoin house or whatever and do it right by not taking things only for yourself!
