The best state is obviously... NONE! The U.S. of A. is a joke.

Land of the free, home of the brave?

Brave, maybe, but sure as * not free. Haven't been since the country existed

The south is beautiful. Most of the people in it even have manners, which is more than I can say for a lot the northerners I've met.

I have lived in the Industrial North (Cleveland Ohio,) the Pacific Northwest (Tacoma Washington,) the Desert Southwest (Phoenix Arizona,) and the Southern Piedmont (Atlanta Georgia.) I have also traveled extensively for work. I have been to 48 of 50 states, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Australia.

An observation, the less people have traveled, the more likely they are to be critical of another area or culture. People who say they live in the best place in the world are exhibiting self talk to inflate their own tribalism. There is no "best place" in the world.

lol clearly you've never even left the south. I've lived in the south and the north, have family all over the south and can say that the south is nowhere near friendlier than the north. That's really another post-civil war myth spread by the southerners.

+1

i have also lived in the south and the midwest and feel that the south's reputation for hospitality is overblown. i think its driven by the touristy areas where employees are super nice not because they are from the south, but because they rely on tips for a wage!
