It applies to both.
However I noticed when the AI attacks with 1-2 catapults, you do not get the extra 250/500 honour. But anything like a Wolf/Siege attack will give the honour.

Ah yes I see now, it's because I killed all the other troops, since catapults "die" when there are no enemy troops left.
So if the enemy attacked with 100 cats and 1 peasant, and you only killed the peasant, you'd only get 8 honour.
