Suggestion: adding epidemics to a new client update

Post by Eilia »

english is not my native language, so I apologize for my grammar)

Gameplay of this game already have "disease + treatment system". So, to upgrade it to the new level must be easy and there is no need to write a new game code from zero. Everything is already there.

developers, do you at least remember that in the Middle Ages, apart from the endless wars, was also the endless struggle against epidemics and plague?

Even in your game "Stronghold 1" was an event - "the plague came to the castle". Why does "Stronhold Kingdoms" still not have this important event of the Middle Ages? When it is so easy to implement and add to the game, as an improvement in current diseases.

I suggest to upgrade current diseases with 2 new events "epidemic" and "plague".

One of variants, how it will work:

Epidemic

Conditions of appearance:

* When any Parish already have 100-149 disease level, each time when disease increase it's points there will be a chance (5%) that epidemic will begins.
* When any Parish already have 150+ disease level, each time when disease increase it's points there will be a chance (10%) that epidemic will begins.
* when Parish already have max. level of normal disease "200" - timer of "new points" continue working, 200 don't increases but checking of a chance (15%) that epidemic will begins.

The beginning of the epidemic:

1. On the global map: skulls over Parish change their color to orange.
2. All residents of the Parish receive a report that the epidemy began (+ the name of Parish)
3. Max. level of disease increases to 300, and disease level of the Parish auto increases on +50 (example: if epidemy happens on 115 disease, when it will begin, disease will become 165).

Effects from the epidemic:

1. All villages inside Parish, receive new popularity event: "Epidemy" with bonus "-20" to popularity (so, will be "-" from disease and "-" from epidemy, total "-" can be max. -65 (-45 from 300 disease, -20 from epidemy).
2. Rats from Parishes where is epidemy will have orange color and when they infect other parish, they will not infect with epidemic, but they will infect new Parish with x3 larger disease (than normal rats).
3. While epidemic is not cleaned, disease in the parish receive x2 points (when they increases).
4. curing of epidemic will give x2 times more points of honor if compared with the treatment of a common disease.

Removing of the epidemic:

The epidemic will disappear and the disease will become normal when the disease level in Parish falls below 50.

Plague

Conditions of appearance:

* When any Parish already have 150+ disease level, each time when disease increase it's points will be 1% possibility that plague will begins.
* When any Parish already have "epidemy", each time when disease increase it's points will be 3% possibility that plague will begins.

The beginning of the plague:

1. On the global map: skulls over Parish change their color to black with red cough.
2. All residents of the Parish receive a report that the plague began (+ the name of Parish)
3. Max. level of disease increases to 300 (the same as with epidemy), and disease level of the Parish auto increases on +50 (but not more than 300).

Effects from the plague:

1. All villages inside Parish, receive new popularity event: "Plague" with bonus "-40" to popularity (if Parish had epidemy, it converts into plague, bonus from epidemy converts into bonus from plague too)
2. Rats from Parishes where is plague appears in x4 times often, they will have black (+red blood) color and when they will infect other parish, they begin there plague too with +50 disease (if parish was without disease, then will be 50 + plague).
3. While plague is not removed, disease in the parish receive x2 points (when they increases) and points of disease increases in x2 times often.
4. curing of plague will give x3 times more points of honor if compared with the treatment of a common disease. So will be challenge between players, who will cure it faster.

Removing of the plague:

The plague will disappear when the disease level in Parish will be fully cured.

P.S.: and anything hard to players. Even 1 player (if researched 8 monks) can cure even 10 Parishes with plague for 1 hour.

Added:

if a miracle happens, and developers still reading this forum section)) If you get inspiration and you want to implement the plague into the game ==> For the best effect can be added into the game influence of the plague on trade and monks.

From history: on the Middle Ages plague between countries was passed mainly through traders (not through rats).

While Parish have plague:

1. When in the Parish is a plague - there will be an automatic quarantine, and its violation will punish players by loss of reputation (honor).

Each attemp to send traders group or monks group on Parishes/Capitals where is no plague will have a price in honor:

between Parishes - 1/100 of current rank up
into other Province - 3/100 of current rank up
into other Country - 1/10 of current rank up

+ additional price from number of era.

example: on title "prince", rank up is 1.000.000 of honor. If player will decide to send monks from "plagued" parish into other "province" (and target has no plague).
except faith will be additional prince: 3/100 of rank up, it is ==> 30.000 of honor on era 1.

If player not have honor (can't pay price), he can't trade and send monks from plagued Parishes outside. And can to trade or to monk only from normal parishes or inside plagued parishes, until the plague is healed.

2. Each group of monks or traders "with plague" (sended from the parish where is not cured plague) will be colored with green color and they have 5% chance to begin plague (+50 disease and +plague status) on their destination (no effect on capitals).
